Sound design for a light installation
Data Heartbreak is an immersive installation by Domestic Data Streamers that visualizes the emotional impact of digital information overload. Through the use of an audiovisual piece consisting of a set of projections showing overwhelming data and visuals that we consume every day, and a sound design that elevates this experience using the same principles.
This has been displayed in various institutions, highlighting the premiere at the DHub in Barcelona during the light festival in 2022 and now displaying at the M9 Fondazione in Mestre, Venezia.
Both of them featured a surround set of speakers (a 9.2 surround in the case of Llum Barcelona and a 12.1 in M9 Fondazione) that guided the user's attention. The purpose of this sound design was to create the sensation of overwhelm that we experience because of the quantity of information to which we are exposed.
